Certified Personal Chef Qualifications

Proficiency

A Certified Personal Chef will have successfully demonstrated their knowledge and proficiency as mandated by the Culinary Business Academy. Their diploma/certificate indicates completion of the most extensive, focused education for Personal Chef’s in the world.

Experience

A Certified Personal Chef will have a minimum of 2 years experience as an active, working Personal Chef. This time allows for real-life experience, unique situations and exposure to a variety of clients.

Education

A Certified Personal Chef will have documented higher education including on-going continuing education within the career field so as to remain informed and abreast of industry advancements and changes.

ServSafe

A Certified Personal Chef will have a valid, federally recognized ServSafe certification assuring knowledge in safe food handling. Testing for re-certification must be accomplished every 5 years.

Code of Ethics

A Certified Personal Chef will always operate his/her service in accordance with the Personal Chef Code of Ethics, in order to provide the most professional service possible. Clients can take comfort in the knowledge that the highest industry standards will be adhered to.

Testing

A Certified Personal Chef will have passed the toughest industry examination as a final step in their certification process. This written test has a substantial failure rate for first time applicants, indicating the level and diversity of knowledge required to achieve a passing mark.

Documentation

A Certified Personal Chef will be required to document continuing education and Association involvement on a recurring timetable to maintain their CPC designation and status.

The CPC designation is the only certification for Personal Chefs listed in the Federal Governments employee certification database.
